Can’t we bribe the government to pass the Jan Lokpal Bill?

Peope call him the nest JP or the second Gandhi, but neither have I seen JP or Gandhi. For me, he is only Anna Hazare– the person whom the whole nation supported and trusted.

So much for a bill and what we get in the end- NOTHING!

Quick Recap

Year 2010: Commonwealth- 70000 crores, 2G- 150000 crores

April 2011:

A social activist named Anna Hazare decides to organize a hunger-protest in Delhi to persuade the government to pass a bill, called the Lokapal bill. The bill is supposed to be the most powerful weapon against corruption. Some media person decided to cover it. And soon it got attention of the nation. After a long time, people were able to dream of a corrution-free nation.

The protest succeeded and succumbs to the demand of Anna Hazare which had by now had became the demand of the nation.

August 2011:

Government proposed a draft Lokpal Bill, but Anna and his team members rejected it. Another hunger protest was to be organized. But government thought it can suppress this anti-corruption movement, and Anna Hazare was arrested. The whole nation erupted!

By the evening, the government was forced to take back its decision and it was decided to release Anna. But their came the MASTER STROKE! Anna refused to leave the jail unless and until he is provided necessary permission and space to hold the protest.

The government had no option. Anna was ruling the country!

It was the  same Delhi Police  which had arrested Anna a day before, and was then providing security to Anna at Ramlila Maidan, place for Anna’s anshan.

For the first time in my lifetime, I was seeing tricolour waving outside Red Fort and cricket stadiums. “Main hun Anna” was what the whole nation was chanting.

After a 13 days long protest, the parliament of this country passed a resolution to accept the demands of Anna and the government to pass a String Lokpal Bill in december session

The country thought the battle against corruption is almost won, but…

Came the December…

Some clever and dirty politics and its back to square one!

The Government agreed to most of the demands of the Team Anna but added more flaws into the bill. And those who understand politics even slightly will understand how it was all pre-planned in the Rajya Sabha. Raising the question for reservation, asking its ally to protest, getting the Rajya Sabha adjourned and then blaming everything on the opposition party.

And Team Anna, they were bombarded with so much of accusations that they failed to repeat the aroma of April and August. The third anshan ended in a failure.

The year ended but the wait for the Lokpal continues….

The only option which now appears feasible is the tried and tested method- to bribe the government and get the desired bill passed!
